Pakistan carried out several airstrikes on targets in Kabul and eastern Afghanistan, in Nangarhar and Paktika provinces, resulting in the deaths of scores of civilians. The Taliban-led Afghan government condemned the attacks as a “blatant violation of Afghanistan’s territorial integrity” and a violation of international law, stating that they had hit civilian homes, a religious school, and other civilian structures, killing scores of people (including women and children) and leaving others missing under the rubble. Afghan officials promised an “appropriate and measured response” at the appropriate time.
