Prayer in Christianity is a conversation, fellowship, and personal, unadulterated, and loving relationship with God, not just a religious ritual. Christians see prayer as a way to know God’s will, to give thanks for blessings, to confess sins, to ask for their own needs and those of others (in the name of Jesus Christ), and to seek peace and guidance. Prayer is a child’s conversation with his heavenly Father. Christians pray in the name of Jesus Christ, according to John 16:24, which indicates seeking his help and doing God’s will. Christian prayer can be short, simple, spontaneous (heartfelt), or in the form of written and traditional prayers.
