The lame man had only desired a small coin, and now he was walking and leaping, praising God, as he had never walked before. The people who witnessed this miracle were amazed. They had seen him for years sitting at one of the temple gates begging and receiving alms. They asked themselves: What happened? How could this happen? Isaiah’s prophecy about the Christian era was being fulfilled: “Then the lame shall leap like a gazelle” (Isaiah 35:6). Is there anyone among us who is lame, weak, and outcast? Is there anyone who is hopeless, restless, and without purpose? Such a person should fix his eyes on Jesus and believe in Him alone, for it is Jesus who has all the power and authority to heal, strengthen, and give life, even eternal life.
