Is wealth a sign of superiority? Is poverty a sign of worthlessness? James shows us that man's position in God's eyes is not dependent on material possessions—the rich should be humble, and the poor should proud of their worth to God.
We want to talk about the true meaning of human value. Society may tell us that our success and status depend on our wealth, but God's Word reveals another truth. The letter of James reminds us that poverty or wealth does not determine our identity. The poor should not consider themselves inferior to others but should be proud of their high and valuable position with God. On the contrary, the rich should not think themselves superior, because the wealth of the world will perish.
