In his defence before the Roman governor Felix in Caesarea, the apostle Paul recounted what he had done after stating what he had not done. Like most Jews, who were Pharisees, Paul believed in the resurrection of the dead and eternal life. The resurrection of the dead and eternal life constituted their main hope, but another sect of Jews, the Sadducees, did not believe in the resurrection of the dead and life after death. Paul says that there will be a resurrection of the dead for both the righteous and the wicked.
