Paul's Appeal

The Jews had brought such serious charges against Paul that Festus, the Roman governor, thought he must have committed a serious crime, but after questioning him, he found no crime in Paul. Therefore, he concluded that Paul’s case was simply a dispute over Jewish religious matters. Festus, who had not been able to understand the charges that the Jews had brought against Paul, needed to prepare a report of those charges and send them to Rome with Paul to the emperor. So Festus went to Agrippa, because Agrippa was a Jewish king and knowledgeable about Jewish religious customs. Festus asked Agrippa to question Paul about the charges. Maybe he would have something to write in his report to the Roman emperor.
