There was a man in the city of Jericho named Zacchaeus, who was a chief tax collector, and very rich. Jesus Christ was a guest in his house, and after hearing Zacchaeus' repentant words, Jesus said to him: "Today salvation has come to this house, because this man is also a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost." Zacchaeus was lost in sin and unbelief, and now he was saved! It was for this reason that Jesus came to earth. It was because of this that he went to the house of a tax collector. Why shouldn't Zacchaeus be given a chance to repent? Jesus came to save sinners like Zacchaeus. If this same Jesus saves us and lives within us, then we will be eager to share the good news of salvation with other lost sinners.
