Sin is rebellion against God. Sin is the fundamental problem of mankind. The sin of our first parents, Adam and Eve, caused them to be cast out of the Garden of Eden, and thus they were subject to pain, decay, and death. And their sin has forever contaminated and afflicted the human race. Sin not only prevents us from being saved and living in the next world, but it also prevents us from enjoying God’s blessings in this world, the highest of which is fellowship with God Himself. The remedy for sin is to go to God and confess and condemn every sin, and turn from it; then God is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We receive this forgiveness through faith in Christ. Jesus took upon Himself the punishment for the sins of man on the cross.
