As the believers were worshipping God and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” 3 Then they fasted and prayed, laid their hands on them, and sent them off. While the leaders of the church in Antioch were worshipping, the Holy Spirit spoke to them. The more Christians worship the Lord, the more the Holy Spirit speaks to them and guides them. The Holy Spirit said to them, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” The leaders laid their hands on them as a sign of their appointment as evangelists for the church and also as a sign of their participation and support of that church.
