Two Kinds of Wisdom

James 3:13-18 distinguishes between two kinds of wisdom: "wisdom from below" (earthly, unspiritual, demonic) and "wisdom from above" (pure, peace-loving, gentle, full of mercy and good fruit). Worldly wisdom is driven by bitter envy and selfish ambition, leading to disorder and evil practises. In contrast, heavenly wisdom is characterised by a good life, deeds done in gentleness, and a harvest of righteousness.
