High Peace Council in Herat

The Herat High Peace Council is the most costly committee established in the province. Seven years ago, the committee was formed by the Afghan government with the help of the international community to mediate between the government and the opposition.
The provincial committee of the Herat Peace Council is currently the only institution that has had the highest stake in bringing the opposition to the peace process.
A number of political and civic activists, however, believe that the Supreme Peace Council in Herat did not have any special support despite the enormous costs and expenses incurred by the council.
These civic and political activists cite the council's financial dependence on foreign countries and its non-modernity as the main reason for its failure.
The council has spent $ 12 million since its inception and has achieved little.
