Khan Wali: A Man Who Breaks the Tradition

  28 minutes

  26 August 2019

The reprehensible custom of giving child brides to settle disputes is common in our country.

Khan Wali is a man who objects to outrageous and shocking customs like this in his native Paktiya. He wants to abolish these practices not only from his own province, but from the whole country.

He relates some painful stories from his home province. Girls in Afghanistan who are given as peace offerings are not treated as human beings when they enter the home of their enemies. They are viewed as enemies and murders. They are beaten every day. They are forced to do hard labour. They suffer in other cruel ways and often die in mysterious circumstances. And these acts are all considered acceptable in a “compensation marriage”.

All these cruel acts are criminal, abhorrent and inhuman.
