Hannah was a barren woman and could not have children, even though her husband – who had two wives – loved her very much. The second wife had children and always insulted Hannah for her barrenness. One day, Hannah prayed to God and pleaded with him from the bottom of her heart to give her a son. If God would answer her prayer, she promised to dedicate him to the service of God. She believed that God would answer her prayer. God did and gave her a son whom she called Samuel, meaning “God has heard”.
Whenever we pray to God, it should be a prayer from the heart.
