We must be very careful when it comes to seasonal illnesses such as colds and flu. Many people blame cold weather for cold-season illnesses. While the weather is not directly responsible for causing illness, in fact, pathogenic viruses multiply easily in low temperatures. In addition, exposure to cold and dry air may negatively affect the immune system. A cold or flu is a viral infection characterised by a runny nose, stuffy nose, sore throat, cough, or headache. Children may also have a fever early in the illness. Children usually have low-grade fevers. It is interesting to note that children often get 10 or more colds or flu each year.
