Jacob had spent many years in the land of his uncle. There he was deceived himself. He got first married to an older sister of his uncle even though he had been in love with the younger sister. After many years, Jacob returned to Canaan. God had promised him the land of Canaan and to his descendants. Jacob had twelve sons Joseph and Benjamin were sons from his beloved wife. Jacob favored Joseph more than the rest of his sons. So, Joseph resented this and ultimately sold him as a slave to a group of merchants on their way to Egypt. There, these traders sold young handsome Joseph to Potiphar, an official of the emperor of Egypt, the Pharao.
