The law was a complete foundation of laws and rules that God gave the Prophet Moses to communicate to the people of Israel. The law included specific and binding details that the people of Israel were expected to keep as their part in the covenant of Mount Sinai. It is important to understand why God gave the law to the people of Israel, as well as the relationship between the law and the Abrahamic covenant. We have said that the covenant that God had established with Abraham was unconditional. This covenant was fully based on God's grace. There was nothing Abraham had to do to be chosen by God and to be a part of the covenant with him.
