The Merciful

Blessed are the merciful. We must first "be" to be able to "do". First, we must “be" Christian to be able to "act" as Christians. We are Christians by the grace of God. This is a gift from God. By becoming a Christian and becoming a child of God, we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to live a Christian life and obey the commandments of Jesus. Without receiving the Holy Spirit from Christ who is within us, we can never follow these teachings. In the same way, because of the work of the Holy Spirit within us, we must first be merciful in our hearts so that we can then show mercy in our actions. Mercy is the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit we cannot be truly merciful.
