Freedom and Slavery

One of the evils of sin is the sale and purchase of man to slavery, which continued for centuries. People were taken away in various ways - as prisoners of war or in response to labor shortages. Some sold their family members into slavery to escape poverty and debt.
But the Bible speaks of slavery to sin. One day Jesus told to the people around him, “Truly, I tell all of you emphatically, that everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin. (John 8:34).
