The priest in the Old Testament could redeem himself and his people only by offering a sacrifice for his own sins and the sins of the rest of the people. It was for this reason that God commanded the Jews to sprinkle the blood of the sacrificed animal on everything inside the sacred Tent. In the same way, in the new covenant, people will be cleansed only by the shedding of the blood of a perfect and spotless sacrifice. This is why Jesus Christ shed his holy blood-to cleanse us from our sins. Christ's redemption was once and for all. There is no need to repeat this sacrifice. Jesus Christ has completely paid for all our sins through his death.
