The religious leaders hand Jesus over to Pilate. Pilate asked Jesus: are you the King of the Jews? Jesus replied: You have said so. The religious leaders asked Pilate to free a criminal instead of Jesus and to crucify Jesus. Pilate did not want to have another rebellion against the Romans and ordered Jesus to be crucified. Jesus did not defend himself but accepted the punishment because Jesus knew that he is going to give his life for the sins of the world.
