Many times we are thirsty and cry out; but people do not give us water to drink, nor kindness and love; but vinegar and bitterness to drink. But her thirst was very different; it was a thirst for love and compassion and deep intimacy and sharing in his sufferings. Mother Teresa explained that this is a statement from Christ on the cross that always reminds us of the purpose of their ministry. She says: We have written this statement in all the centres so that we do not forget the purpose of our ministry.
