On March 8, International Women’s Day, various societies address the role of women in history, culture, and religion. One of the lesser-known aspects is the presence of female perspectives in the Bible. These sacred texts not only contain stories about women, but some sections were directly written or shaped by women. There are two women named in the Bible; Ruth and Esther, each with their own courage and story. In the Old Testament, the books of Ruth and Esther have a female perspective. There are also songs composed by Miriam, Deborah, and Hannah. Women’s voices are also heard in the Song of Solomon and his advice. In the New Testament, the songs of Elizabeth and Mary are seen. Although the Bible was written mainly by men, it should not be forgotten that it also includes some female voices and perspectives. From the beginning of creation, the Bible introduces women as valuable beings who complement men. The Book of Genesis states that God created Eve from Adam's rib to be his helper and companion. This indicates the inherent equality of men and women in God's creation.
