God's Word teaches us to be kind. In his own life, Jesus Christ practically demonstrated how we can be kind even to our enemies. We must follow his example. God freely gives both the wicked and the just the blessings of sun and rain. God sent Jesus to die for sinners. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. God did not love us because of our merits or our good behavior. He loved us completely even when we were his enemies. In the same way we should love other human beings.
Why did God show such love for sinful humans who were his enemies? Because God is love. God is the source of all love and goodness.
