Animal sacrifices point to the perfect and final sacrifice. When Jesus Christ came to him for baptism, John said, "Behold, this is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" Because the animals did nothing wrong, they died instead of the one who sacrificed them. Jesus Christ did not commit any sin, but he willingly sacrificed his life for the sins of all people. Jesus Christ took our sins and died in our place. Through faith in what Jesus Christ did on the cross, we can receive God's forgiveness.
