Part 7 - I Am the True Vine

I am the true vine, and my Father (God) is the gardener. Jesus gave the example of a vine and its branches to show what the Christian life is like. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit, He takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit, He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Without the Spirit of Christ, we will soon die spiritually. If we do not bear fruit, it means that the Spirit of Christ is not working in us. God will prune such a branch. A fruitless branch is useless to God. But God will prune and prune a branch that does bear fruit, that it may bear more fruit. God prunes away the bad branches, our bad habits and sins. Pruning, or cleansing, can be very painful. Those who are cleansed from sin and pride can bear good fruit for God. Abide in me, and I in you. Abiding in Christ means loving Him, obeying Him, praying to Him, and praising Him. So, dear fellow countryman, do you want to be a good fruit bearer or a branch separated from the vine? The decision is yours!
