God’s salvation was accomplished. These prophecies remind us that Jesus’ coming is the result of the unstoppable zeal of a God of grace and glorious deliverer. God does not abandon his world in its broken and wounded condition. He is not willing to abandon us in sin and hopeless captivity. These and many other prophecies in the Bible remind us that the great author has set the pattern of history; that the central theme of his story is not judgement, but a story of grace and forgiveness. It is the story of grace alone that has drawn us to himself. Grace alone is available through Jesus Christ. For Christmas is the celebration of the birth of the Word of God, made flesh among us in the person of Jesus Christ, to bring God’s love, grace, mercy, and free gift from heaven to our hearts, without religious intermediaries.
