The villagers laughed at her and said the girl was crazy. This work is for adults, but Farahnaz said, “Cleaning has no age. Anyone who cares can keep the earth clean.” Gradually, her classmates at school saw her and began to help. Their school held a competition, where the class that kept their environment the cleanest would win a prize. Farahnaz, with her small hands, started collecting rubbish from their empty oil cans, writing on them “Love the Earth.” Her class won. When the school principal gave her the prize, he said, “Farahnaz, you taught us all that cleanliness comes from the heart.” Did the villagers learn too? Yes, slowly. When they saw the village becoming clean, they felt happy, even the old man who always threw rubbish in front of his house came one day and said, “Dear girl, you were right. We must take care of the earth because God created it for us.”

So, Farahnaz changed the villagers? Yes, my daughter. With her own hands, from that day on, they called her Farahnaz, the Clean Queen. God has given us the earth to live in, not to spoil it. It’s about a woman who meets Jesus by the well. Oh mother. But it’s a story where Jesus asks her for living water. Oh mother, that’s right. I’m very happy. It was a hot day. Very hot. Like the summer days in our province, Jesus was walking with his disciples along a long road. They reached a place called Samaria, where the people of Samaria and the Jews were not friendly with each other. His disciples went to the city to buy food, but Jesus sat by a well. The name of the well was Jacob’s well. He was resting there, mother. So he was sitting alone? Yes, dear mother. At that moment, a Samaritan woman came to draw water, like the women from our neighbourhood who go to fetch water from the well. When she came near the well, Jesus asked her for a drink of water.

Mother, the woman was surprised because Jews did not associate with Samaritans. She said, “You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” But Jesus smiled and said, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” Mother, what does living water mean? Does it talk? No, dear mother, it doesn’t talk. Jesus meant that anyone who drinks from this well will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks from the spiritual water that he offers will never be thirsty again. They will find hope and strength. Does that mean people pray and their hearts become calm?

Exactly like that. People become calm, as if they are drinking from a fresh spring. The Bible also says the same. It says in the Gospel of John, chapter 4, verse 14, “Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” The Samaritan woman was momentarily amazed and thought, “Who is this man?” She said, “Sir, if you give me this water, I will not have to come here to draw water.” Mother, does that mean she won’t have to fetch water anymore? Yes, dear mother, but Jesus wanted to address her bigger issues and told her to call her husband.

The woman sighed and said, “I have no husband.” Jesus replied, “You are right when you say you have no husband. The fact is you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband.” Mother, how did Jesus know that? Oh dear mother, because he was not just a man; he was the saviour of the world. He sees the hearts of people; he understands their wounds; he knew how much this woman had suffered, how lonely she felt, how lost she was in life. Mother, was this woman a bad person? No, my dear, this story is not about good or bad. It’s about someone who was hurt, broken, and judged, and Jesus respected her and offered her the true water.

Girls, you can see that Jesus never turns away anyone. Wherever someone is alone or ashamed, that’s where he shows the most love. The woman gradually said, “I know that the Messiah is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.” Jesus said to her, “I, the one speaking to you, I am he.” Mother, did she understand that she was speaking to the Messiah? Yes, dear, imagine that one day the Samaritan woman was the first person to learn that Jesus was the Messiah. How honourable is that? Mother, what happened next? The woman joyfully went into the town and said to the people, “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” And people came and believed in him. A woman whom everyone judged was chosen by God to spread the good news to the town.

Mother, does that mean God can use simple people? Yes, dear. God uses anyone whose heart is open. It doesn’t matter if they’re big or small, girl or boy, rich or poor. He shows his kindness to everyone. Mother, if we also ask him, will he give us that living water? Yes, dear, he will. Whenever you feel thirsty or afraid, or if you feel lost and don’t know what the world is saying, just pray. Jesus, fill our hearts and lives with that water. He will be present. Our hearts will find peace, and hope will be restored.
