This cross is far more than two beams of wood pieced together. It’s far more than the piece of jewellery that so many people wear today. This cross is big enough and important enough to encompass the whole of Jesus’ passion, death, and resurrection. It is the central point, in fact, of our whole Christian life.
The Holy Spirit announced the birth of Jesus Christ. Throughout the New Testament we read how the Holy Spirit empowered and guided the early church in the first century.
Jesus is not only greater than any past human prophet but greater than any prophet could be. He not only speaks God's Word; he is God's Word. In the Gospel of John, Jesus reveals his divine role publicly. Here he is the Bread of Life, the Light of the World, the True Vine and more.
