Psalm 2 begins with a picture of the world of godless nations and their leaders who "conspire" and "rebell" against God and against His Messiah. The psalmist refers to the enemy nations that surround Israel and conspire and rebel against God and against God's "anointed" king, that is, against King David and his descendants. The second psalm has a special meaning for Christians; This psalm shows that Jesus will return one day and establish his rule over all the nations and even to the ends of the earth, and these are promises of blessing to all those who trust in him.
