In the midst of pain and suffering, we ask "Where are you, God?" and "Do you care about me?". God often feels distant and that he does not understand us. The poet says, "If only you had become a human being, you would then understand me." In John 1, we see that indeed answer this question. In the person of Jesus, we see the fulness of the deity and the character of God. God does understand us. The cares for us.
