A poem about Christ's suffering, examining the call for all believers to be united by God through Christ's sacrifice
When we look at the historical facts of the Bible, we see that the followers of Jesus Christ were first called Christians in Antioch. They did not choose this name for themselves, but the people did they chose for them. Before people chose this name for the followers of Jesus Christ, it is not clear what the people called the followers of Christ. "It was in Antioch that the followers of Jesus Christ were first called Christians," the book of Acts says.
Jesus Christ was born in a small town in Bethlehem, near Jerusalem, the religious center of the Jewish people. Bethlehem was an important city for the Jews and was considered sacred. It was in this city that thousands of years ago the prophet David became king of Israel by God. God promised that his kingdom would last forever, and he would send the Messiah from the descendants of the same king. At the birth of Jesus Christ, we see the victory of light over darkness.
This is a short poem, crying to God to give us ears to hear and give us grace to not look to ourselves, but to Him.
We need to learn to pray not just for our daily needs or wants, but to pray about how to live purposefully.
