Moses and the Pharoah

  30 minutes

When Moses and his brother Haroon wanted to lead the Israelites out of slavery from Egypt, Pharaoh opposed it. The Israelites were cheap slave-labor and all the hard and dirty work was done by them. God then performed many signs of power and punished the Egyptian people with terrible plagues. Still Pharaoh refused to let God’s people go. Finally, God sent a tenth plague and all the first-born of the Egyptians were killed, but no one from among the Israelites. They had been protected by the blood of a sacrificed lamb applied to their door frames. The angel of death passed over them. From now on, the Israelites would celebrate the “Pass-Over” (Eid-e Pissah) every year. Pharaoh had to finally let the Israelites go. After more than 400 years in slavery in Egypt, God was now fulfilling his promise to bring his people back to the promised land of Israel (Canaan).
